Cyprus | SMASH #11

Hey everyone,

Did you enjoy the summer?
Besides our 2 weeks vacation the summer has been extremely busy at the job. During our vacation we did an amazing roadtrip in Ireland, it is really recommendable.

You might have given up on my blog because of the summer silence, but now I'm back with the very last pages from  my Cyprus SMASHbook.

Drinking coffee in the airport while waiting to boarder

Food and a cold beer on the plane

On our way back to Denmark

I'm still working on my SMASHbook from our family trip to Mallorca last year. I really hope to find the energy to be more creative, and it is my goal to finish the Mallorca SMASH before we are going back to that wonderful island in September. I'm not sure I will succeed, but I will give it a try. Anyway it's better to take time to create a result one is satisfied with than to force things.

Well, this was the end of our Cyprus story, at least with the photos I chose for the SMASHbook. I have saved some of the best photos for layouts, so I'll be back with some travellayouts one day.

Cyprus | SMASH #Vol. 10

Hi everyone,

As a follow up on my last blogpost, although in Danish (feel free to use the translation button in case you don't understand Danish), I want to show a couple of pages from my Cyprus SMASHbook.

The last morning in Ayia Napa we got up early and grabbed some breakfast in the restaurant to catch a flight from Larnaca a few hours later. On our way to the restaurant, which was in the other end of the hotel, we took some photos of the pool area and the path down to our block.

We also took some photos of the hotel appartment. Absolutely not the very best hotel, but you get what you pay for ;-), anyway we had a good vacation in Cyprus.

I guess this was all for now.

Cyprus | SMASH #Vol. 9

Hello guys,

We are so much enjoying our vacation without any big plans but relaxation. Actually it's our Winter holliday but the weather is very springlike. It's really nice.

When it comes to scrapping I'm trying to catch up on the missing Project Life spreads, but now on to a couple of SMASH pages fra the Cyprus album.

The last night in Cyprus we had dinner at Paula's, the food was really YUMMY and there was plenty of it with lots of delicious accompainments.
On the right page you see some of the (boring) hotel surroundings.

I'll be back before you know it ;-)

Cyprus | SMASH #Vol. 8

Today I'm starting this fresh, new week with a few more pages from the Cyprus-SMASH for you.

In the monastery

After having a really delicious lunch, we visited a monastery where the sweetest abbess told about life in the monastery and answered all our questions. During the visit all women had to wear a loose (polyester) robe over their own clothes, the temperature was pretty high so OMG it was HOT!

The Abbey Church and buffet-dinner at the hotel

The monastery was the last stop on our daytrip in the beautiful Troodos mountains. This evening we had a late dinner at the hotel........

On the balcony and the view from our balcony  by daylight

... and had a relaxed evening on the balcony, had lots of coffee and a couple of drinks, and uploaded all of today's photos to the computer.

This was all for now, have a lovely week no. 7.

Cyprus | SMASH #Vol. 7

This weekend we got a tiny amount of snow, sadly it already has melted and today it is raining so what would be more appropriate than a couple of pages from the Cyprus SMASHbook?

On our roadtrip in the Troodos mountains we went to see Niki's small factory where they produce Cypriot candy, jam and juice.

The candy was a little strange, but we bought some almond sticks which were dipped in the juice from carob. They tasted a bit of licorice and were quite okay.

We had Meze for lunch which was very delicious. Meze is almost the same as Spanish tapas, but of course with small Cypriot dishes.

In the afternoon we visited a monastery ...... to be continued....

Cyprus | SMASH Vol.6

Are you ready for another dose of Cyprus? Anyway here it comes....

On the way up in the Troodos mountains we stopped in a little beautiful village where we went for a little walk. Unfortunately we never found out the name of the village.

We had freshly baked bread, olives, sun-ripened tomatoes, goat cheese, freshly squeezed juice and a good cup of coffee for breakfast  in Palaichori. Afterwards we drove up to the little village Askas.

Askas is a very picturesque little village, there is one single hotel with only 3 rooms.

The streets are narrow and goes up and down the hillside.

We are on our way down to Agros to pay Niki a visit and see her small factory. The roads in the Troodos mountains are with lots of hairpin bends. I'm really not very fond of driving on these kind of roads, but it was worth it. We really had a wonderful roadtrip in the mountains.

This was all for now, I wish you a lovely Sunday.

Cyprus | SMASH #vol. 4

Hi,

On this cold and rainy (at least here in Denmark) December Sunday I'm joining in with some SMASHpages from the warm Cyprus.

Daytrip to Nicosia

We went on a trip up to Nicosia, a city which is seperated between the Greek-Cypriot and Turkish-Cypriot population.

Firstly we visited Cyprus Handicraft Center. I made a pocket from some scrapbooking leftovers for the brochures you could collect at the center.

Tilføj billedtekst

Afterwards we went around in some of the old streets in the Greek-Cypriot part of the city and ended up in the modern part of Nicosia. The modern part is just like every other modern European city but one thing -

.... the Checkpoint to the Turkish occupied part of the city. It's really surreal because you need a visa to cross the border and the Checkpoint is right in the middle of a pedestrian zone. When you came over to the Turkish occupied part of Nicosia it felt as if time had stood still for many many years. We saw the old caravanserai Buyuk Han which todays is transformed into a lively center for the sale of handicrafts, The Selimiye-mosque and the bazaar before leaving for the Greek-Cypriotic part of the city.

The bazaar and coffee at Starbucks

After lunch we had coffee at Starbucks before exploring more of Nicosia.

I hope you enjoy all the Christmas preparations during this busy month.

Cyprus | SMASH #vol. 3

Hi everyone,

Are you ready for more pages from my Cyprus SMASHbook? Anyway, here they come.

Wednesday market in Agia Thekla

Wednesday from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. there was a local market in Agia Thekla, so we caught a bus and went out there. We bought nothing but had a lot of fun looking at the stuff they sold. Close to the market there was a small chapel which we had to check out, and suddenly we found this little cave which initially was a holy place for the early Christians.

I made a little book with more photos from the cave

We  paddled a little in the water and went to the small restaurant for refreshments.

The only kind of ice cream available in Agia Thekla

On our way back to Ayia Napa we didn't get off the bus right in time, so we ended out in the middle of nowhere. We really made a lot of fun out of it. We walked and walked until we finally found a bus stop where we waited for the bus back to town.

After that trip... COFFEE PLEASE :-D

Cyprus | SMASH #vol. 2

Hello guys,

Today I have a couple more pages from my Cyprus-SMASH for you.

Breakfast on the plane and coffee on the balcony outside our room

We had breakfast on the plane and besides the decent omelet it really wasn't something special :-D

Day 2

Tuesday we went sightseeing in Ayia Napa and started at the old monastery, a beautiful and peaceful place in an area with lots of bars, restaurants and souvenir shops.

The harbour and sunset.

Our long walk ended up at the harbour with small fishing boats and excursion boats lying side by side. On the left page you see a copy of "The Black Pearl" waiting to go on a family pirat-trip.

We just managed to watch the sunset on our way back to the hotel where the dinner was waiting. It only took a couple of minutes before it was totally dark.

This was some of the pages from day 2 in Ayia Napa.

Cyprus | SMASH #vol. 1

Hi everyone,

Now I am ready to show you a couple of pages from my SMASHbook from our vacation in Cyprus back in September.

Front cover

The signs and "Cypern" are made on the computer. Keep calm and think of AYIA NAPA is from Pinterest and the flag at the bottom is made of Washi tape. In addition I used stamps and a woodveneer.

I put a  keyhanger from Cyprus onto the strap for the pen

And now on to the pages.

I was SO excited getting startet, so I actually already made the left side the evening before we left. I made the right side in Ayia Napa.

pages SMASHed in Cyprus

I brought my Selphy printer so I could print out photos and SMASH now and then during the vacation.

We left home 03.30 a.m. so we grabbed some breakfast and a coffee at the airport. On the right page we are on our way.

I brought a small bag with different stash; stickers, pens, Washi tape, cutouts, stamps and so on.

I will soon be back with more pages from the book.

SMASHbook for Nicoline #3

Hej,

Hi everyone,

I dag vil jeg gerne vise endnu et par sider i Nicolines SMASHbog.

Today I am going to show you a couple of pages from Nicolines book.

When Nicoline and I are together we often fool around making a lot of fun.
She loves to play around with this red nose and help taking the photos.

We have a cupboard in the kitchen where she may play with things
and she is having a lot of fun spreading everything around the entire kitchenfloor.

Both sides
Det var alt for nu.

This was all for now.

Life In Details # 1

Hi everyone,

Have you heard about the new challenge blog called Life In details
It is a challenge blog for those that like documenting their lives
either using the Project Life system or using Smash books.
The first challenge is to create a 4x6 card including the following:
Ribbon or washi tape, Flair Bling,
Chipboard or wood veneers and 2 different Patterned Papers

Here is my take on the challenge:

Jeg har brugt et Becky Higgins kort, som jeg har pyntet med de ting,
der står i opskriften.

I used a pre-made journaling card from Becky Higgins
and decorated it with the items mentioned in the recipe.

I prefer to upload my PL spreds chronological,
and the next spread I am going to present is week no. 24,
so for now I will only show you the journaling card I made for the LID challenge.

Here is my take on the challenge:

I have just started SMASHing (in a simple version) from our wonderful summer
where we spent a lot of time with our wonderful grandaughter,
so I am very excited to see what the future SMASH team is coming up with.
In the meantime I want to show you a couple of pages
from the home-made SMASHbook.

Nicoline playing in our garden for the very first time
Nicoline and my DH looking at flowers
The doublepage
Tak fordi du kiggede forbi, og fortsat god weekend

Thanks for stopping by.
